Closed areas: West Head Road temporary closures

Once a month several times a year there will be temporary (up to 5 minutes) road closures on West Head Road, from where it intersects with Liberator General San Martin Drive to Resolute picnic area and West Head lookout. This is to allow for Manly Warringah Cycling Club cycle races. Closure details are as follows:

  • The road closures will cover all lanes in both directions from 6am to 9am in daylight savings months and to 9.30am in other months.
  • The closures will be managed under an RMS Road Occupancy Licence, which has an approved stop/slow traffic control process using pilot vehicles to lead vehicles at slow speed. This may cause traffic delays of no more than 5 minutes.
  • Access to all West Head visitor attractions between where Liberator General San Martin Drive gate intersects with the southern end of West Head Road, and north out to West Head lookout will be affected by these temporary closures.

The planned dates for the races will be Sunday 23 July, Sunday 13 August, Sunday 10 September, Sunday 22 October, Sunday 12 November and Sunday 10 December 2017. Penalties apply for non-compliance with road closures. For more information, please contact the NPWS Ku-ring-gai Chase Forestville area office on (02) 9451 3479 or contact us via email
