Fire bans: All Riverina reserves

A park fire ban is in place in this park and remains in effect unless otherwise extended or removed. During park fire ban periods, all campfire and solid fuel (wood, heat beads, charcoal, briquettes, hexamite) barbecues and stoves are prohibited. Gas and electric barbecues and cookers are permitted as long as:

  • They're under direct control of an adult
  • The ground within 2m of the barbecue is cleared of all flammable materials
  • There's an adequate supply of water (minimum of a bucket)

If a Total Fire Ban is in place, please contact the local park office before using a gas and or electric barbecue or cooker.

Closed areas: Peery Lake picnic area

Peery Lake picnic area in the northern section of Paroo-Darling National Park is closed because the access road (Wilcannia to Wanaaring SR5) is closed. This closure may be extended and any extension will be posted as soon as possible. The picnic area will reopen when Central Darling Shire reopens the road. To check the 24-hour road condition report broadcast, call (08) 8091 5155 and listen for Wilcannia to Wanaaring Road, code SR5. Penalties apply for non-compliance. Safety alerts: Fire trail spraying

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service Mid-West area will be spraying fire trails as part of fire preparedness works. We will sign-post areas being treated while the activity is undertaken. If the weather is suitable, this work will be completed by the end of October 2017.
