Closed areas: Areas closed - Varneys Bridge works

Some areas in this park are closed between Tuesday 20 February and Thursday 1 March 2018 due to essential repairs to Varneys Bridge. Please note:

  • Wattle Forest is closed.
  • Currawong Flat picnic area is closed.
  • Access to Audley from the track leading from the Waterfall and East Heathcote areas isn't possible during this time. 
  • Uloola Falls, Engadine tracks and Robertsons roundabout are not accessible from the Audley area.

Closed areas: Track closure updates

Some areas of this park are closed due to bushfire. This closure may be extended and any extension will be posted as soon as possible. The closed areas are:

  • The Coast track (from Wattamolla to Garie)
  • Curra Moors loop track
  • Wallumarra trail
  • Palona Cave track
  • Karani Ridge trail
  • Wises trail

Lady Carrington Drive is open to the public, however, there is no access to Wallumarra trail or Palona Cave track from Lady Carrington Drive.

Closed areas: Change in access to Wattamolla Beach and Lagoon

NPWS is upgrading the track to Wattamolla Beach and Lagoon. The works are part of a broader upgrade of the Royal Coast track from Bundeena to Garie Beach. The track upgrade will be undertaken between September 2017 and May 2018. Access to the beach and lagoon during this time will be via the Providential Point track, as indicated in this map.

Closed areas: Areas closed due to rock falls

Some areas of this park are closed to public access due to rock fall hazards. Closed areas are: 

  • The northern section of the Mt Keira Ring track that extends west from the Mt Pleasant track to the stairs leading up to Queen Elizabeth Drive
  • All areas above Mt Keira Ring track to Mt Keira summit, except for the Dave Walsh track and the rock-climbing area on the western face of Mt Keira.

Safety alerts: Audley precinct in wet weather

Access across the Audley Weir may be closed due to river flooding during times of wet weather. During wet weather, NPWS advise park visitors to visit Live Traffic NSW to ascertain the status of the Weir crossing before commencing their travel to the park. During times of closure, access to Bundeena, Maianbar residential areas, Royal National Park Visitor Centre, including the Audley Dance hall and cafe, is via McKell Ave Waterfall.
