Closed areas: Fitzroy Falls Visitor Centre toilets closed

Work has begun on a substantial upgrade of the toilet facilities at Fitzroy Falls. This work will address longstanding issues relating to the sustainability and ambience of the current facilities. It will also include new arrangements such as squat toilets to better cater for the needs of our rapidly growing international visitor market.

The work will be undertaken from Monday 17 July 2017 for approximately 8 weeks. During this time, limited temporary facilities will be available via portable toilets. However, because of the significant complexities involved in the siting of the temporary facilities, there will be no wheelchair-accessible toilets available on site during the works.

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this necessary work may cause. Visit the national public toilet map to find the nearest wheelchair-accessible toilets to Fitzroy Falls.

This closure may be extended and any extension will be posted as soon as possible. Penalties apply for non-compliance. For more information, please call Fitzroy Falls Visitor Centre on (02) 4887 7270 or visit the NSW National Parks safety page for park safety guidelines.

Other planned events: 1080 fox and wild dog baiting program underway

NSW National Parks are conducting a 1080 fox and wild dog baiting program in the Kangaroo Valley, Budgong and Illaroo areas for the protection of the Endangered brush-tailed rock-wallaby. The baiting is conducted on various private properties, council reserves, NPWS estate, Water NSW estate and vacant Crown land. All properties with 1080 baiting under this program are permanently baited throughout the year. These properties will have poison on them from today through to 31 December 2017. The baiting will be conducted using both 1080 buried baits and 1080 (above ground) ejector devices at the bait station locations. Do not touch any bait or ejector devices. All properties being baited are sign posted with the baiting dates and an indication of which baiting methods are being used on each property. Dog owners are reminded to ensure their dogs do not wander as dogs are highly susceptible to 1080 poisoning. A map indicating the approximate location of each bait station is being hosted on the Friends of the Brush-tailed Rock-wallaby website. For further information please contact Melinda Norton at the OEH Highlands area office, Fitzroy Falls on (02) 4887 8244.
