Closed areas: Murray Scrub Walking Track closed

Murray Scrub walking track is closed due to storm damage until Mid-May 2024.

Closed areas: Toonumbar Forest Drive and Cox's Road closed

From 1 January 2024, Toonumbar Forest Drive and Cox's Road are closed until winter 2024. Estimated re-opening dates Mid-May 2024.

Sherwood lookout and Murray Scrub lookout remain closed until the roads are re-opened. Iron Pot Creek campground and Murray Scrub walking track are only accessible via Murray Scrub Road from Afterlee.

Both roads are not safely trafficable in wet conditions and are therefore seasonally closed from late spring until late autumn dependant on rainfall during the wet season. There may also be additional closures during forecast weather events and damage during the winter period.

Closed areas: Cambridge Plateau Forest Drive Future Closure - 6 May to 31 June 2024

Cambridge Plateau Forest Drive will be closed from 6 May to 31 June 2024 for flood repairs and road maintenance works. Specific dates will be provided closer to commencement of works.

  • Peacock Creek campground will remain open and can be accessed from the west via Peacock Creek Road or from the east via Sextonville Road
  • Cambridge Plateau picnic area and related walking tracks will remain closed for the duration of road works
  • There will be no access to the cabin north of Cambridge Plateau picnic area during most of the closure period. Guests can contact the cabin owner regarding their stay and access requirements.

Safety alerts: Peacock Creek campground 4WD/AWD access only

Peacock Creek Campground is accessible by 4WD or AWD only until further notice.

Many local roads are still impacted by large pot holes and similar damage from recent flooding, all visitors should drive with care and to conditions.

- Iron Pot Creek Road is suitable for 4WD or AWD only due to the current condition of the crossing at Toonumbar Dam

- Sextonville Road and Peacock Creek Road (western end) are only suitble for 4WD due to deep creek crossing and severe road surface damage

- The north of Cambridge Plateau Forest Drive is currently closed due to hazardous conditions

Closed areas: Cambridge Plateau Forest Drive partial closure

Due to storm damage, Cambridge Plateau Forest Drive will be closed between Peacock Creek Road and Mount Babyl until 31 July 2024. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

The road will remain open between Cambridge Plateau picnic area and the Bruxner Highway. This section of road is not suitable for 2WD vehicles in wet weather and is not suitable for heavy vehicles until slip repairs in May 2024.

  • Peacock Creek campground will remain open and can be accessed via Peacock Creek Road, Sextonville Road or Iron Pot Creek Road
  • Cambridge Plateau picnic area and Culmarran Valley Track and Cambridge loop walk will remain open and accessible from the south via the Bruxner Highway
  • Guests wish to access the cabin north of Cambridge Plateau picnic area can do so from the south via the Bruxner Highway
  • Many local roads are still impacted by pot holes and similar damage from recent flooding, all visitors should drive with care and to conditions

Closed areas: Tweed Range Scenic Drive Closed - Border Ranges NP partially closed

Border Ranges National Park remains partially closed due to the damage sustained to Tweed Range Scenic Drive & Brindle Creek Loop in recent weather events.  Estimate opening date has been extended until 25th April, 2024

Sheepstation Creek campground remains open and access is from Wiangaree via Lynches Creek road and Forest road only.

This closure includes Tweed Range Scenic Drive, Forest Tops campground and all day use areas accessed via Tweed Range Scenic Drive.
