Walkers, cyclists and canyoners are advised to be cautious and to plan their activities and routes carefully. Significant rain has affected the entire park since Monday 13 March. Rivers and creeks could become impassable at short notice. Please note some closures are in place within this park.

Due to roadworks on the Great Western Highway at Mt Victoria, vehicle access into Victoria Falls Road may not always be possible. For further information, contact Blue Mountains Heritage Centre on (02) 4787 8877.

Safety alerts: Rodriguez Pass

Due to recent high winds, there are a number of large trees across Rodriguez Pass, between Govetts Leap and Junction Rock. NPWS staff will be working from today to clear the track. This work may take several days to complete. Walkers are advised to avoid this area until work is completed.

Closed areas: Fire trails on western side Kanangra Walls Road

Due to recent  heavy rain, Morong Creek,  Boyd River, Mount Emperor, Mumbedah and Budthingeroo fire trails have become very slippery in some of the steeper sections. To prevent deterioration of the road surface, these trails will be closed at the intersections with Kanangra Walls Road and where Morong Creek fire trail intersects with Kowmung River fire trail.

The Ben Lomond fire trail is also closed on the western side of the Hollanders River.

These closures will remain in place until 6pm, Friday 31st March 2017, when road conditions will be reassessed. This closure may be extended and any extension will be posted as soon as possible.

Closed areas: Glow Worm Tunnel track closed

Glow Worm Tunnel track (between Glow Worm Tunnel Road carpark and junction of Pagoda track) is closed from Friday 27 January to Friday 7 April 2017. A pedestrian bridge is being replaced.

Glow Worm Tunnel will remain open to visitors, but alternative access is via Old Coach Road (2WD) and Pagoda track. Glow Worm Tunnel Road and carpark will remain open so that visitors can access the public toilets. Visitors should note that the walk from Old Coach Road carpark to Glow Worm Tunnel is 2 hours return. Other tracks in the area are unaffected by the works.

Blue Mountains City Council wishes to advise that Prince Henry cliff walk between Majestic lookout and the junction with the Leura Cascades walk is currently closed due to a landslip. Detours will be in place and clearly signposted around the affected area. Grand Canyon track immediately below Evans lookout will be under construction Monday to Friday each week. The track is open to visitors, however be aware of the following:

  • Expect delays
  • Minor detours will be in place
  • Be careful of uneven surfaces and trips
  • Construction materials will be on the track.
