Bats are not blind, they don't get caught in your hair and they won't suck your blood. Find out more at the annual Blue Mountains bat night at the Blue Mountains Heritage Centre, Blackheath.


Friday 9 March 2018, 6.30pm–9pm

Bat walks: Every 10 minutes from 6.30pm onwards. Last walk leaves at 8.40pm.

Talks: 6.40pm, 7.10pm, 7.40pm and 8.10pm. Talks run for around  20 mins plus questions.

Blue Mountains Heritage Centre, Blue Mountains National Park
Easy. Suitable for all ages. Bat walks are 2km return.

This special night is a real bat fest! There'll be bat talks, bat walks and fun activities in the Bat Cave.

Learn about flying foxes and our fascinating microbats. Come dressed as a bat!

Book into a free walk with an NPWS ranger. We'll try to spot microbats and hear their calls via a bat detector. Bring a torch to help you see other wildlife on the way.

  • Blue Mountains National Park is always open but may have to close at times due to poor weather or fire danger. Some parts of the park close overnight; details are provided for specific attractions.

  • Park entry fees:

    $8 per vehicle per day applies only at attractions in the Glenbrook area.
