Corrie Island Nature Reserve is closed from Friday 22 September 2023 to Sunday 31 March 2024 for the protection of beach-nesting shorebirds.
Corrie Island is an important breeding site for endangered little terns and pied oystercatchers. The island is closed to visitors for the duration of the nesting season to reduce disturbance that can cause egg or chick deaths.
During the closure period visitors may not land anywhere on Corrie Island, and only NPWS staff and authorised volunteers are allowed on the island. Pest control activities may be undertaken on the island during this time.
