Cascades Walking Track in New England National Park will be closed from 9 April to 30 June 2024 for maintenance.

National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) will commence a 1080 ground and aerial baiting program on the 1st April to 30th June 2024 on the following reserves:

The operations will use meat baits containing 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of wild dogs and foxes. Signs will be placed at the entry to all the baiting locations. Domestic pets are not permitted in NPWS managed lands. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting locations. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

Closed areas: Temporary closure - Lower Ebor Falls and Ebor Walking Track (part)

The Upper Ebor Falls visitor precinct in Guy Fawkes River NP has reopened to the public following bushfire reconstruction works, with facilities including new viewing platforms, picnic areas and toilets. The Lower Ebor Falls visitor precinct, part of Ebor Falls Road and sections of the Ebor walking track between the Upper and Lower Falls will remain temporarily closed to allow for construction works to be completed.

Please do not attempt to enter these areas during the closure period, and follow the direction of any signage, staff and contractors. Penalties apply for non-compliance. For further information contact the NPWS Northern Tablelands Area office on 02 6739 0700.

Closed areas: New England National Park walking track closures

The following areas are closed for public safety, to allow NPWS to assess and manage rockfall hazards.

  • Eagles Nest walking track
  • All access to Weeping Rock
  • The lower eastern section of Lyrebird track including Tree Fern Valley.

Works are currently underway to reopen Tree Fern valley.
