Closed areas: Prince Henry Cliff walking track - between Leura Cascades and Solitary restaurant

Prince Henry Cliff walking track is closed between Leura Cascades and Solitary restaurant until further notice. This closure is due to a landslide that has completely blocked the track. An alternative track is available via Leura Cascades walking track. Visitors can still walk from Leura Cascades to Solitary restaurant on Cliff Drive via this longer track.

Other planned events: 1080 wild dog baiting program

NPWS will be conducting a 1080 ground baiting program for wild dogs in Nattai National park, Thirlmere Lakes National Park and Burragorang State Conservation Area. The program will start on Monday 23 October 2017 and finish on Friday 18 November 2017. 1080 poison (sodium floroacetate) will be buried baits and laid in various locations across the reserves. Visitors are reminded that 1080 is lethal to domestic dogs. Pet owners must ensure their pets do not enter baited reserves. 1080 baiting signs will be placed at entrances in and out of the reserves where bating is occurring. Fire bans: Park fire ban – NPWS Mudgee area reserves

A park fire ban is in place in this park and remains in effect unless otherwise extended or removed. During park fire ban periods, all campfire and solid fuel (wood, heat beads, charcoal, briquettes, hexamite) barbecues and stoves are prohibited. Gas and electric barbecues and cookers are permitted as long as:

  • They're under direct control of an adult
  • The ground within 2m of the barbecue is cleared of all flammable materials
  • There's an adequate supply of water (minimum of a bucket)

If a Total Fire Ban is in place, please contact the local park office before using a gas and or electric barbecue or cooker. Penalties apply for non-compliance. A solid fuel fire ban is in place in this park and remains in effect until Friday 30 March 2018. The fire ban applies to all areas of the park except for Boyd River and Dingo Dell picnic area and campground. During park fire ban periods, all campfire and solid fuel (wood, heat beads, charcoal, briquettes, hexamite) barbecues and stoves are prohibited. Gas and electric barbecues and cookers are permitted as long as:

  • They're under direct control of an adult
  • The ground within 2m of the barbecue is cleared of all flammable materials
  • There's an adequate supply of water (minimum of a bucket)

A solid fuel fire ban is in place in this park and remains in effect until Wednesday 28 February 2018.

The fire ban applies to all areas of the park except for Colo Meroo, Coorongooba, Dunns Swamp, Newnes and Wheeny Creek picnic and campgrounds.

During park fire ban periods, all campfire and solid fuel (wood, heat beads, charcoal, briquettes, hexamite) barbecues and stoves are prohibited. Gas and electric barbecues and cookers are permitted as long as:

  • they're under direct control of an adult
  • the ground within 2m of the barbecue is cleared of all flammable materials
  • there's an adequate supply of water (minimum of a bucket).

Closed areas: National Pass walking track closed

National Pass walking track has been closed between Valley of the Waters and Slack Stairs, due to a very dangerous, unstable section of rock above the walking track. The area has been assessed by a geo-technical engineer and appropriate measures will be implemented to remove this extreme hazard. It is expected that this section of the National Pass walking track will reopen for the summer school holidays in December. Penalties apply for non-compliance.

Ingar campground and Ingar Road will be closed from 12pm on Saturday 5  August 2017 due to private property building works. This closure is indefinite and date of reopening is to be advised. Closed areas: Claustral canyon access change
