Closed areas: Closed areas due to hazard reduction burning

Some areas of this park are closed on Wednesday 4 April 2018 due to hazard reduction burning. The closed areas are:

  • Upper Werong Creek fire trail
  • Middle Werong Creek fire trail

Traffic management control will be in place on the Oberon-Colong Stock route and Jerrong Road on Wednesday 4 April 2018.

A section of Batsh camp is closed due to the risk of tree branches falling. Further assessment and removal of dangerous branches will take place in the coming weeks. Penalties apply for non-compliance. NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service is undertaking a 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) wild dog poison baiting program from Tuesday 1 May 2018 until Friday 30 May 2018 in the following parks:

  • Abercrombie River National Park
  • Blue Mountains National Park
  • Kanangra-Boyd National Park
  • Mares Forest National Park
  • Wiarborough Nature Reserve
  • Wombeyan Karst Conservation Reserve

Warning signs will be displayed to notify the public about this program. 1080 poison may be harmful to domestic animals.

Neighbours and visitors are reminded that domestic animals are not permitted in national parks, nature reserves or karst conservation areas at any time. Visitors should not handle or disturb any baits.

Other planned events: 1080 fox baiting program

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service will be running a 1080 fox baiting program in Jenolan Karst Conservation Reserve and the northern portion of Kanangra-Boyd National Park. The baiting is part of an ongoing program which will begin on Wednesday 14 March 2018 and finish by Monday 6 August 2018.

This program is part of a broader coordinated control program to lessen the impacts of foxes on stock and wildlife. If you'd like to become involved in the cooperative program, please contact the Central Tablelands Local Land Services on (02) 6333 2300.

Domestic pets (including dogs) are not permitted in national parks or reserves. Neighbours and park users are reminded that 1080 baits are lethal to domestic pets. There will be 1080 baiting signs at access points to the baiting areas. In the event of accidental poisoning, seek immediate veterinary assistance.

We suggest that working dogs be restrained to ensure that they don't enter the baiting location during poisoning operations, or muzzle dogs if they're required to work in the baiting location during and after the baiting program.

Closed areas: Ingar campground

Ingar campground and Ingar Road will be closed to vehicle access from 12pm Saturday 5 August 2017 due to private property building works. The closure is indefinite as it relates to access through the private property. No opening date can be advised. NPWS apologises for any inconvenience caused. Ingar Road and Ingar campground may still be accessed by walkers and cyclists. Penalties apply for non-compliance. Closed areas: Prince Henry Cliff walking track - between Leura Cascades and Solitary restaurant 

Prince Henry Cliff walking track is closed between Leura Cascades and Solitary restaurant until further notice. This closure is due to a landslide that has completely blocked the track. An alternative track is available via Leura Cascades walking track. Visitors can still walk from Leura Cascades to Solitary restaurant on Cliff Drive via this longer track.

Closed areas: National Pass, Wentworth Pass and Roberts Pass closed

National Pass, Wentworth Pass and Roberts Pass have been closed due to a recent rockfall. 

Visitors can access the base of the Wentworth Falls below the Grand Stairs. Valley of Waters track is open to the base of Empress Falls. Empress Canyon is also open.
