Closed areas: Vehicle access to Wooli Beach

Some areas of this park are closed due to the accumulation of soft sand making Wooli Beach unusable for vehicles. 

Several vehicles in recent times have been stranded and required assistance.  This closure agreement involves Clarence Valley Council, Wooli/Yuraygir SES and NPWS. 

Vehicles ignoring warnings may be subject to infringements. This closure may be extended and any extension will be posted as soon as possible. The closed areas are:

  • NPWS Beach access Northeast of Wooli township
  • NPWS Beach access to Wooli Beach from Diggers Camp Road

Safety alerts: Wild pigs - take care

Pig activity is currently high in Bundjalung National Park. If you see any pigs please call NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service on (02) 6627 0200. If possible, let us know the date, time and where you saw any pigs.

Please note: Pigs can carry serious diseases, which can spread to humans. Do not touch pigs, soil or water where pigs have been foraging. Do not use water from any creeks in the park.

The self-service Sandon River boat crossing is currently unavailable due to boat servicing requirements. If you're planning on using Yuraygir Coastal walk, please make your own arrangements to cross the Sandon River. NPWS apologises for any inconvenience.

Other planned events: 1080 fox control baiting program

National Parks and Wildlife Service are conducting an ongoing fox control program using 1080 baiting in coastal areas of Yuraygir National Park. This feral animal control work is part of the NSW Fox Threat Abatement Plan and Saving our Species conservation program aimed at protecting threatened shorebird species. Safety alerts: Ilmenite stockpile removal and site rehabilitation

Visitors to Black Rocks campground should expect to encounter large trucks on The Gap Road. This is part of a major project to remove a sand mining tailings stockpile from the park and restore the area to a natural ecosystem. Park visitors are asked to slow down and exercise caution while driving along The Gap Road. No works associated with this project will be undertaken on weekends, public holidays or NSW school holidays. The truck movements are expected to continue until June 2020. Closed areas: Angourie Back Beach - staircase removed

Walkers on the Yuraygir Coastal Walk are advised that the staircase at the southern end of Angourie Back Beach has been removed due to safety concerns. All walkers should commence the walk via the track at Mara Creek picnic area, as there is no longer access from the beach. Penalties apply for non-compliance. Other incidents: Black Rocks campground - aircraft noise

Attention for campers at Black Rocks regarding periodic aircraft noise over the campground. The Department of Defence has a training area within Bundjalung National Park north of Black Rocks campground. Aircraft may fly over the campground from time to time. Gumma Garra pedestrian bridge is closed due to safety issues until further notice. Closed areas: Black Rocks campground - No 4WD Beach access

Partial closure. No 4WD beach access from Black Rocks campground. Due to significant storm damage, the 4WD beach access at Black Rocks campground is closed. Vehicles may still drive along Ten Mile Beach north from the Shark Bay 4WD beach access, but cannot exit at Black Rocks.There are no other beach access points on Ten Mile Beach other than Shark Bay 4WD beach access. No 4WD access north of Black Rocks campground.
