Some areas of this park are closed to vehicle traffic, due to a special event on Sunday 25 June 2017, between 6am and 2pm. This closure may be extended and any extension will be posted as soon as possible. Closed areas are:

  • Pisgah Rock
  • Red Hands Cave
  • The Oaks picnic shelter

Safety alerts: Woodford to Glenbrook Mountain bike trail maintenance

From Wednesday 14 June to Friday 30 June 2017, maintenance work will be taking place on the lower section of the Woodford to Glenbrook Mountain bike tail. The work will be in the last 1.5km section of Single track:

  • From the helipad entry road
  • To the end of the track

The trail is open but there may be minor short-term closures. Please observe directions from site personnel and site signage. Other tracks in this area are unaffected. For further information please call the NPWS Blue Mountains Heritage Centre on (02) 4787 8877, 9am–4.30pm, Monday to Friday.

Other planned events: 1080 wild pig baiting program

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service will be conducting a 1080 wild pig baiting program in Blue Mountains National Park. The program will commence from Friday 9 June 2017 and finish Thursday 31 August 2017. The 1080 poison will be laid within Blue Mountains National Park. The areas include:

  • Jamison Valley
  • Kedumba Valley
  • Cedar Creek
  • Breakfast Creek
  • Wild Dog ranges.

A reminder that 1080 is lethal to domestic dogs and pet owners must ensure their pets do not enter baited reserves. Domestic animals should be restrained for the duration of the program. 1080 baiting signs will be placed at entrances in and out of the reserves where bating are being placed. Pets are prohibited at all times in National Parks under the National Parks and Wildlife Act 1974 and regulations. Closed areas: Prince Henry Cliff walk - section closed

A section of Prince Henry Cliff Walk will be temporarily closed from Tuesday 23 May 2017 for walking track upgrade works. The details are as follows:

  • 300m of the Prince Henry Cliff Walk track between Katoomba Cascades and Reid Plateau will be closed
  • There will be detours via Cliff Drive. These will be clearly signposted.

Safety alerts: Wet weather safety

Walkers, cyclists and canyoners are advised to be cautious and to plan their activities and routes carefully. Significant rain has affected the entire park since Monday 13 March. Rivers and creeks could become impassable at short notice. Please note some closures are in place within this park.

Closed areas: Claustral canyon access change
