Closed areas: Granite lookout and picnic area closed for roadworks

To allow for roadworks to be undertaken Granites Trail, off Coachwood Drive in Washpool NP, will be closed from Monday 22 April until Friday 17 May 2024. Access to Granite walk and lookout, and the Granite picnic area will be unavailable during this closure.

Closed areas: Boonoo Boonoo Falls walking track and lookout closed for construction

Due to construction work to improve access on the Boonoo Boonoo Falls walking track, the track and Boonoo Boonoo Falls lookout will be closed until 5pm Friday 31 May 2024. During this closure the Rockpool Ramble and River walks will remain open.

Please follow all temporary signage and instructions from staff or contractors, and do not enter closed areas of construction. Penalties apply for non-compliance.

Other planned events: 1080 ground baiting program

National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) will commence a 1080 ground baiting program on the 1st April to 30th June 2024 on the following reserves:

  • Boonoo Boonoo National Park
  • Butterleaf State Conservation Area
  • Little Llangothlin Nature Reserve

The operations will use meat baits containing 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of wild dogs and foxes. Signs will be placed at the entry to all the baiting locations. Domestic pets are not permitted in NPWS managed lands. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting locations. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.
