Muogamarra Lloyd Trig walk

Walk along the old convict road and enjoy panoramic views over the Hawkesbury River

Discover the natural wonders of Muogamarra Nature Reserve on this extraordinary guided walk. Follow the old convict road and bush track before climbing up a short rock scramble to the Lloyd Trig cairn. Keep your eye out for old-man banksias, pink boronias and delicate native orchids. You'll be treated to panoramic views over the Hawkesbury River, the adjoining national parks and other iconic landmarks, such as Barrenjoey Lighthouse.

Registration desk at Muogamarra Nature Reserve. Please arrive 15 minutes before the start of the walk.

Getting there:

From Sydney:

  • Head north towards Newcastle on the F3 Freeway and take the Berowra exit
  • Turn right onto the Pacific Highway and follow it past Cowan
  • The park entrance is on your left, approximately 3km north of Cowan.

From Gosford/Newcastle:

  • Head south on the F3 Freeway and take the Mooney Mooney exit
  • Follow the Old Pacific Highway across the Hawkesbury River towards Cowan
  • The park entrance is on your right, approximately 6km from the freeway exit.


Parking is limited, so please car pool where possible. Buses and trailers not admitted, as the road is unsuitable for heavy vehicles.
